Fundraiser of the Year Award for SKylight’s Mark Rogers as Stockport Celebrates Community Impact

Community groups across Stockport have been celebrated for the vital role they play in strengthening local neighbourhoods, as the Make a Difference Community Awards, held as part of International Women’s Day, shine a light on individuals and organisations making an impact at grassroots level.

These groups, led by passionate volunteers and residents, continue to deliver essential activities that improve physical and mental wellbeing and bring communities together. Their work remains at the heart of what makes Stockport’s Third Sector so resilient and responsive to local needs.

SKylight, a community benefit society working to alleviate poverty and support residents, has been pleased to work alongside many of these organisations over the years. By providing guidance on funding and helping groups navigate access to resources, SKylight aims to make it easier for community‑led initiatives to grow and flourish.

This year, SKylight’s Funding Officer, Mark Rogers, was recognised with the Fundraiser of the Year Award. The honour reflects the dedication he has shown to support community groups across the Borough.

Since 2012 I have helped Stockport community groups make over 977 applications for funding, helping groups win almost £7.6 million of grants. I have worked for housing associations across the North-West of England since 1994 as a quantity surveyor, Development Manager and funding specialist: building and refurbishing homes, bringing investment into neighbourhoods and helping community groups bring their projects to life with grant funding.
