Offerton Cricket Club Case Study

Following a previous grant for equipment, more and more people began getting involved with the club, with players of all ages taking part in training and activities. As numbers grew, so did the need for a dedicated training space where players could practise safely.

Cricket balls can travel at high speeds, creating risks during training sessions, so the new batting cage has provided a secure, contained environment that allows players to focus on developing their skills with confidence.

Today, the batting cage is used by more than 100 people each week, benefiting players from across Stockport. Junior members, who previously found the old net system difficult to set up, now have a much easier and more accessible training experience. The women's section has also benefited from a safe and reliable space to train.

Players and coaches have expressed strong appreciation for the new facility:

The Grass Roots Community Fund enabled Offerton Cricket Club to create a safer, more professional training environment.
