Youth Provision

We offer a wide range of activities and events to support families and young people to get involved.

Stockport Homes’ Youth Engagement Officer delivers sessions in schools and the community to encourage young people to make positive choices and develop key life skills.

  • Mental Toughness

Mental Toughness is used as a measure of mind-set and to enable change in mind-set through interactive sessions for young people in schools. Mental Toughness looks at the way an individual thinks, which is a key driver in the development of behaviour and attributes.  It has four key elements:

    • Control – Life Control (I believe I can do it) and Emotional Control (I can manage my emotions and the emotions of others)
    • Commitment – Goal Setting (Setting goals and I like working towards them) and Achieving (I will do what it takes to keep my promises and achieve my goals)
    • Challenge – Risk Taking (I will push myself and I am driven to succeed) and Learning from Experiences (Even set backs are opportunities for learning)
    • Confidence – In ability (I believe I have the ability to do or can acquire the ability to do it) and Interpersonal Confidence (I can influence others and stand own ground if needed)
